A Doe and Three Fawns

On Monday, as we were driving to Benjamin's house in Port Saxon, we saw a deer standing in the ditch very close to the road. So I slowed down and since no one was coming, I stopped in the road to watch her and when I did I realized she had three fawns with her. They still had their spots on their beautiful coats so they were very young. They were standing further away from the danger of the road. The 'mama' deer was the one scouting out the situation to see if it would be safe for her babies to cross the dangerous road.
We were able to sit there watching the four of them for almost ten minutes. We never moved and she didn't either. From time to time she would twitch her nose or turn her ears, smelling and listening for potential danger but she never felt it was safe enough for her babies because she never crossed the road. Eventually she turned and headed deeper into the woods and her babies followed her lead.
How much we are like that mother deer. We would do anything to protect our children. We're careful about what they eat, what they watch on TV, where they go, who they hang around with when they are older. We protect them to the best of our abilities. But sometimes we can't be there. Sometimes they are on their own and must learn to stop and assess the situation before they 'try to cross the road'.
Sometimes they are hurt and when they are we're there to comfort them and try to make the pain go away. All three of those fawns followed their mother's lead, but can you imagine if even one had of decided to do things their own way and try to cross the road? It could have been seriously injured or killed. Sometimes we will try to do things our own way instead of God's and we get hurt. That's when we need to return to the Father and ask His forgiveness for our stubbornness and He will be there to comfort us, to dry our tears and to restore us to our rightful place as a child of the King.
He never remembers our past sins and faults. He never holds them against us. Once we have asked for forgiveness it is as if that sin never happened. We have a clean slate and can start over again. What forgiveness! What peace we can have if we only turn back to Him and allow Him to guide us, protect us, care for us and love us.
Luk 11:13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
