I love the story of Simeon in Luke 2. He is a person that sometimes we can overlook in all the excitement of the Christmas story but the Bible starts out his introduction with the words "Behold there was a certain man...". It's like the Lord is saying "hey pay attention here, I want you to meet an important person." And Simeon was important. He was in the temple the day that Mary and Joseph brought Jesus, eight days old, to be circumcised. I'm sure there were other parents who brought their babies to be circumcised but Simeon took Jesus into his arms and blessed him. Why Jesus? The Bible doesn't say anywhere that Mary or Joseph announced who Jesus was. They didn't shout 'this is the Messiah'. But Simeon KNEW that Jesus was the Messiah because he had been waiting to see Him all his life and knew Him when he saw Him!

The Word is very clear that when we seek the Lord, with all our heart, He will be found by us.(Deut.4:29). Simeon had been waiting. God's Holy Spirit had told him that he would not die until he had seen the Messiah. I'm sure that every day he wondered 'would this be the day?' I'm sure he must have looked at every baby that came in the temple and wondered 'is this the Messiah?' But he didn't have to wonder when he saw Jesus. He knew. He knew that now he could die in peace because he had met the Prince of Peace. He had met his Saviour! What a day that must have been for Simeon! To know that he was holding God the Son in his arms! To know that he was holding the King of Kings!

Each and every one of us who seek the Lord will find Him. He's not just a baby in a manger that we take out at Christmas time and dust off. He is alive and He desires to live in all of us. He came to save the world from their sins. He came to be the bridge between sinful man and a holy God. We can look for all kinds of things and people to fill the emptyness in our hearts but only Jesus will be the One to satisfy. Won't you seek Him today? If you do, just like Simeon, you will find Him and know Him at once as your Answer. God bless.

Luk 2:25-35 And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. And this man was just and devout, waiting for the Consolation of Israel. And the Holy Spirit was on him. And it happened to him, being instructed by the Holy Spirit, he was not to see death before he would see the Christ of the Lord. And he came by the Spirit into the temple. And as the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do according to the custom of the Law concerning Him, even he received Him in his arms and blessed God, and said,  Lord, now You will let Your servant depart in peace, according to Your word. For my eyes have seen Your Salvation which You have prepared before the face of all the peoples,  a light for revelation to the nations, and the glory of Your people Israel.  And Joseph and His mother marveled at those things which were spoken by him. And Simeon blessed them and said to Mary His mother, Behold, this One is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel, and for a sign spoken against (yea, a sword shall pierce through your own soul also), so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.
