"Thus saith the LORD, which maketh a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters; Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert." (Isaiah 43:16, 18-19)
I love these verses, especially when I read them at the beginning of a year. Today is Jan. 1st and it's a time of new beginnings. 364 days lay ahead of us of uncharted territory, of unknown events and happenings. It's an exciting time! God clearly tells us in these verses that He is going to be doing a new thing in our lives! That's something that always excites me. He will make a way in the wilderness for us and rivers in the desert. That situation that once looked so imposing suddenly is made passable. That area of our life that we thought was dried up and dead will come to life. These are exciting times people!
Maybe last year wasn't such a great year for you, don't worry about it. You can't change a thing about it by going over and over it again and again in your mind. The Lord tells us to forget about it because He is doing a new thing! He will establish our pathways. He will guide and direct us and our lives will never be the same again. Serving Him is an amazing adventure that is certainly never boring. Put your trust in Him completely. Let go of your security blanket and put your hand in His entirely and you'll never regret it.
