Warrior Princess

For years now I have been encouraging and exhorting people to study the Word, be in the Word, follow the Word, consume the Word.... you get the point. I have told people that if they know what God's Word says then they are prepared when the devil comes at them with his lies and confusion. I've told them that they will know what to say to defeat him. I have said all those things, and meant every one of them, and I have even started a ladies Bible study based on the Word of God and Joyce Meyer's book Battlefield of the Mind which speaks about our weapons to defeat the enemy as being the Word of God, praise and prayer.

Today I got to live my words. Today God allowed the women of our Bible study to see the power of His Word in action. Physically, I am drained this week with a sinus infection so of course that would be the week that Satan would show up to attack. The Bible study started out fine until I said that we can defeat Satan by knowing the Word and praising God. Such confusion came into the room! (and we all know that God is not the author of confusion). A judgmental spirit showed up as well as a critical spirit. So there were three things to battle!

I silently prayed that God would give me the words to say to teach and to end the confusion and He did. Even though my brain was cloudy with sinus problems, He gave me the Scripture to combat the enemy. Each Scripture did battle and something new would crop up. It wasn't the ladies present who were doing this, it was the enemy seeking to discourage and confuse the daughters of the King, but all he really accomplished was to show each one who was there how effective the Word of God actually is.

There was a peace at the end of the study that hadn't been there during it. The enemy was driven away because we hung onto the Word of God. We were able to pray and ask the Lord to guard us in our study and that He alone would be glorified by our actions and our speech. I must admit that physically I am exhausted after this morning but I am rejoicing that God is still on the throne and He will always be with us.

Sometimes we have to do battle. Ephesians 6:11-13 tells us:
" Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.  Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. "

If we think that we can go through this life and never have to stand up to the enemy of our souls we are sadly mistaken. Jesus Himself did battle in the wilderness with Satan and He used the Scriptures as His weapon too. After each time the enemy came against Christ, He responded with 'thus it is written'.

We are daughters of the King of Kings and as such we are warrior princesses. We will be called upon to resist the devil and when we do he will flee from us.  "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." James 4:7

Ephesians 6:13-17 says: " 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."

God has given us everything that we need to defeat the enemy. We have the weapons at our ready but it is up to us if we will pick them up or choose not to and live a defeated life. We have the Word of God at our disposal but we need to know how to use it. We will learn to use it the more we are in it. So I go back to the beginning of this note: be in the Word, read the Word, follow the Word, know the Word, so you will be ready when the enemy comes against you. God bless.
