Not A Creature Was Stirring.....At Prayer Meeting

Knowing I was going out to prayer meeting tonight at church, I was reminded of a true story my Dad told me about a prayer meeting of a different sort. My Dad has gone hunting every fall with the same men and in the same spot all of his life. They are all related and have been together since before they could carry guns. They built a beautiful peeled log cabin in a secluded spot and they look forward to 'getting in the woods' every year. They go and check on the camp throughout the year and cut firewood in anticipation of the upcoming hunting season and they make trips into the camp to work on their tree stands. I think they just enjoy being in the woods and being in each others' company.

On one such trip, when they opened the door of the camp they saw a hole in the floor where lightning had come up into the camp. Around the hole lay five little mice in a circle, dead. The men that Dad goes hunting with are all Christians who are familiar with prayer meetings, so they said that the little mice had gathered for a prayer meeting, since they were all in a circle, and they died praying through a lightning storm. We all got a good laugh at that, but I did feel bad for the poor little mice.

Five little mice may not seem very important to you, but to the Lord they were. He cares so much about His creatures that He even sees them when they die. He cares about even the tiniest, seemingly insignificant animal or bird, it says so in His Word. Matthew 10:29 “Aren’t two sparrows sold for a penny? Not one of them will fall to the ground without your Father’s permission." God cares and if He cares about little mice and tiny sparrows, don't you think He cares about you? Of course He does. Matthew 10:30,31 goes on to say: "Every hair on your head has been counted. Don’t be afraid! You are worth more than many sparrows." God loves you, He really does. You can trust Him to help you with your life. Call out to Him and allow Him place in your life. May God bless you and keep you.

The beautiful camp. A perfect spot.
