Laundry Detergent

We have been blessed to have Gabe come into our family. Gabe is Matthew's girlfriend and she is a sweetheart. She's also a very frugal girl who is very careful with her finances. She shared a recipe that I had to share with you. Not only will it help cut the cost of doing laundry for you but it is a great detergent for those of us who suffer from allergies.

You will need:

2 bars of soap (Ivory or Sunlight etc)
2 cups Borax
2 cups Arm and Hammer Washing Soda

In a large pot bring 1 quart (4 cups) water to a boil. Add 2 bars of soap grated. Whisk  until it is all dissolved. Add 2 cups of Borax and 2 cups Washing Soda, whisk until smooth. Add 2 gallons (32 cups) warm water. Whisk. Ladle into large container or several small ones. Use 1/4 cup of detergent per load of laundry.

I have used this detergent and it really works great! We live in an economy where any money saving idea is a good one, but this one is really great! I hope you'll try it and save money too!
