We'd all like to have a "do-over" sometimes. A fresh start. A chance to do things differently. Maybe we made horrible mistakes in the past and we wish our life had turned out differently. Sometimes people will use the mistakes of their past as an excuse to stay in the same rut. They have no hope of anything ever being any different than what it is right now. I think that kind of thinking is planted in our minds by our enemy, Satan, to keep us defeated and living in a hopeless state.
But God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, that we "may have life more abundantly" (John 10:10). God gives us a "do-over" every morning we wake up. He gives us a brand new day without any mistakes, without any failures. We have the opportunity every morning to start the day off right, to make today a different day than the day before. We have a chance to be a different person. We have a fresh start.
What an opportunity He gives us! What a chance! Every morning we are presented with a choice: will we choose to begin a new, different, exciting life of hope and joy and opportunity or will we choose to remain in our rut, mired down in the clay of the past. Will we hold on to old grudges and jealousies? Will we keep doing and saying the same destructive things that have kept us in bondage or will we break free by grasping the line of hope the Lord gives us each new day? It's our choice. Do we want a fresh start, a do-over?
Every morning is a fresh start, a new beginning. Today is the day we can choose to be a kinder person. Today is the day we can be a better wife, mother, daughter, friend, sister. Today is our fresh start. Today is the first day of our new life, free from the things which have weighed us down in the past, because we choose to walk away from them and cease the destructive behavior they created.
Today we choose to honor God in our speech and our actions. Today is a new day, a fresh start, a new beginning. Today we will be the women God wants us to be. Thank you Father for a fresh start!
"For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland." Isaiah 43:19
