Psalm 91:1 says: "whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty." I want to be that close to God. I want to live, every day, so close to Him that I can rest in His shadow knowing that He is right there beside me.
When we were kids, on a bright sunny day, we would often play with our shadows. We'd see whose was the longest and make 'monsters' of our shadows by stretching our arms way above our heads. We'd laugh and play at it until something else caught our attention. But one shadow game that I loved to play was to see if two people could cast one shadow. One of us would stand in front of the other standing very close and being careful not to move and many times we succeeded in making our shadows look like one. That's how close I want to be to God, that even our shadows overlap.
That's what God wants too. He wants us to be close to Him. He wants to overshadow us with His love and protection. He doesn't want us to ever leave His side. Is your shadow hidden in His? Or are you walking your own path, doing your own thing, going your own way? You'll only find rest for your soul when you dwell in His shelter; when you are so close to Him that you cast one shadow. Let me encourage you today to draw close to God and He will draw close to you (James 4:8).
Amen to that sister , the closer our walk becomes the closer we should want to be to Him , God bless
