Sometimes life's hard. It's a fact. Sometimes it's not easy being a Christian in a decidedly non-Christian world. We're surrounded on all sides with temptations and pitfalls. Our senses are assaulted with the media on a daily basis. We work with unsaved, unsanctified people and we hear our Lord's name used most horribly.
We live in a world which has lost its morals and modesty is a thing of the past. We don't value life in any form, whether it is an unborn child or an elderly person who has, seemingly, outlived their usefulness to society. Marriage as God intended it is being challenged on all fronts. Respect from children to parents or teachers is virtually non-existent.
It can seem, to the Christian, that we are living in a strange, foreign world and in fact we are. The Bible clearly tells us that our citizenship is in Heaven (Philippians 3:20). We don't belong here, that's why we feel so out of place sometimes. This feeling like we don`t belong can become discouraging if we let it. But we need to remember what Paul said in Philippians 3:14: "I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward, in Christ Jesus." Sometimes life means just putting one foot in front of the other. Even when you don't feel like going on, still press on. When you feel like giving up, don't, press on. Keep the goal in sight and press on.
Yes, life IS hard but we don't have to face it alone. God has promised to be by our side through the storms. When everything seems to be falling apart, God isn't and He's got it under control. So my encouragement for you today is this: hold on to One that is stronger than you, because life's hard and you can't handle it alone.
