Unshaken

Though the mountains be shaken
and the hills be removed,
yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken
nor my covenant of peace be removed,”
says the Lord, who has compassion on you. Isaiah 54:10

For some Valentine's Day is a day to celebrate love; to honor that someone special who has our heart. For others it is a sad reminder that they are alone; that they have no sweetheart to give them flowers or chocolate or in my case: a pair of new green rubber boots (my request). It is to the latter I address this 'Valentine' message.

While your heart is grieving I want to remind you of God's great love for you. In Isaiah 54 He reminds us that even though the very mountains are shaken and the hills be removed, He will still love you and His love will not be shaken. We live in a world where love seems to be fickle. Sometimes the smallest thing can cause someone to leave a relationship which they have pledged to be in forever. But God's love is not fickle. His love will not change.

We live in a world where the word 'commitment' is never spoken of. But God has committed to love you 'unfailingly'. His love will never fail. You can count on Him. He will always love you, not just on Valentine's Day. He will always be there.

Maybe you have been hoping and praying for someone to love here on earth, in fleshly form: a real man or woman who will love you in return. And maybe you think your prayers will never be answered. But let me encourage you to "seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33). Put God first in your life and allow His love to sustain you and He will give you the desires of your heart. He will comfort you and give you peace. He will never leave you. He'll never let you down. His love is unshaken. His commitment to you is unshaken. He loves you.
