The Great Falling Away

The Bible speaks clearly and tells us that in the last days there will be a great falling away. People will leave their faith and follow after the standards of the world. 1 Timothy 4:1"The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons." I think at this time in history, as in no other before it, Christians have got to realize that we are in a battle for our very souls. Satan knows his time is short so he is trying harder than ever to pull us away from God. He doesn't care if you worship him or not as long as you don't worship God.

Satan is very deceptive. He doesn't appear to us in the open, instead he will slowly but surely cause you to compromise. Compromise is one of his biggest weapons against our faith. Compromise happens a  little at a time. He'll tempt you with words like 'its not that bad' and 'well, God just wants you to be happy'. He'll, little by little, cause you to walk away from your faith; to walk away from what you know the Word of God says.

If you were in a boat and trying to get from point A to point B and you knew that in order to get to point B you had to set a course for north but instead you decided to set your compass just five degrees off of north. Even though it was only five degrees you would never end up at point B. Its the same way with a little compromise. At first its just a little off what you know is true but after awhile the distance between how you are living your life and how you know you should live your life, according to God's Word, is a huge distance and you may not even know how you got there. But it all started with a little compromise.

There is a little chorus that we sing that says  "I have made my decision, I have staked my claim, I have drawn a line in the sand and I'll not be ashamed. With the world behind me and the cross before, by the grace of God I will serve the Lord." Have you made your decision that nothing is going to get you off course? What if every other Christian you know is doing something or accepting something that you know is contrary to the Word of God? Will you still follow after what is right and true? Or will you compromise? Are you willing to seemingly stand alone or will you go with the crowd so as not to make waves? Are you going to stand strong on the Word of God or are you going to be a part of the great falling away?

Matthew 7:13-14 warns us to be careful how we walk "13"Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. 14"For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it." The way of compromise is popular and it will draw many away from their faith but the Lord, Himself, tells us that the way that leads to life is narrow and there will be few who find it. As time winds down for this world more and more people will choose the wide gate. They'll compromise their faith, little by little, and little by little they will choose the world's standards. They'll believe the lies of the enemy and they'll compromise what they know to be true according to God's Word. I hope you won't be one of those Christians. I hope you will stand strong on the Word of God even if you feel like you are standing alone.

God says that there will be few  who find the narrow gate. I want to be one of those who do. How about you? Are you willing to stand for what you know is right or will you be part of the great falling away?
