You Are a Somebody

     Psalm 139:13 says "You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb." And Jeremiah 1:5 says "I knew you before I formed you in your mother's womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations." Both of these scriptures are scriptures with promise. Promise that you were planned for, you were wanted. God had a plan for you before you were even born. You are a somebody, you are special, special enough that the God of all creation took the time to form all your delicate, inner parts and to map out a plan for your life. WOW! Just imagine!
     You might have grown up hearing that you weren't wanted, that you were an accident. You might have been called some pretty ugly names by those who should have loved you best. You might have felt like you had no direction and that nobody ever cared. But I want to let you know that somebody wanted you: God did. He wanted you to be exactly the way you are. He chose your eye colour, He chose your nose shape. He chose the family He put you in so that you would become the person He wanted you to be.
     Every single event in your life has formed you and shaped your personality. Nothing that has happened to you has been by chance. Your very birth has not been by chance. You are somebody! And you matter. God has a plan for your life and He will tell you what it is if you ask Him. If you turn your life over to Him and do things His way instead of relying on your own abilities, He will guide you to what it is that He wants you to do.
     Shake off the lies of the past that you didn't matter, that your birth was a mistake. Shake them off. Shake off the feelings of inadequacy and failure. Shake them off. Start living your life with purpose! You have a purpose! You matter! You are a somebody!
