This Man of Mine

A few weeks back my husband was diagnosed as being 'severely' diabetic. His father had been diabetic so it does run in the family. Couple genetics with poor food choices and zero exercise and you have the making of a perfect diabetic storm. Well that day in the hospital the storm hit us full force. He was sick in body anyway from two viral infections and heart sick from recently losing our 25 yr old son. It's safe to say that he was pretty low.

With heads reeling from this latest news we set out to find out what was safe and what wasn't safe for a diabetic to eat and since we're 'one flesh' in marriage I decided I'd follow the same meal plan. Three weeks later his sugar is down from 23 to 6-7. And we've both lost weight. I'm so proud of him. It's hard to break a lifetime of bad habits in only a few weeks but we're doing it together.

We've had a lot of bad news handed to us lately but we're walking through this valley together with God. When people go through hard times in their life they sometimes ask 'where was God in this situation?' But I can tell you that He's right there walking through that situation with you. Our faith in God has not diminished, in fact it has grown. God IS GOOD! Even though bad things happen He is good. Some of those bad things we bring on ourselves by our lifestyle choices and others we have no control over but through it all God is there.

I'm so thankful God gave me this man to go through these trials together. As we walk with God and each other we will see great things happen.
