Ecclesiastes 3New International Version (NIV)
A Time for Everything
3 There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:
2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
8 a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.
As you can see there is a time for everything, everything that makes up our life here on earth. Sometimes we have the illusion that we are in control of our time and in a certain respect we are when it comes to what we spend our time on. But that is actually just our schedule. No one can add an hour or even a minute to their time. Every day has only 24 hours and we spend some of those hours sleeping which leaves us with less than that to make something of our lives, to live life to its fullest, to make a difference in someone's life.
When someone dies unexpectedly we often here people say 'I wish I had had more time'. More time to say I love you. More time to spend together. More time to do whatever. Make amends etc. But the fact is life is short. Our time here on earth is nothing in comparison to eternity no matter how long we live so we need to make every hour, every minute count. We need to live life to its fullest.
Keep short accounts with God because only He knows the number of your days. Apologize when you're wrong. Laugh often and don't take yourself so seriously. Don't get caught up in drama or other time wasters. Life is short. No matter how healthy or careful we are none of us know if we will wake up in the morning and live to see another day so make the most of this day that you've been given.
If you knew that today was your last day on earth what would you do? Take a minute and think about that. What would you do? What would you say to those you love? Where would you go? What would you change if you could? Let me encourage you to stop putting things off. Live today as if it's your last....because it might very well be.
Life is short but eternity is forever. Where will you live in eternity? It's your choice. It's up to you. If you have accepted Jesus as your personal Saviour and you're living for Him, you'll spend eternity in Heaven but if you haven't done that yet you won't. I know that sounds blunt but eternity is nothing to take lightly. It's serious and if you're reading this right now then now is the time to put your trust in God. He loves you.
