Stay-cation

Today we begin our 'stay-cation'. A stay-cation is like a vacation only you don't go anywhere, usually because of finances and in our case that's the reason. That's not to say that it won't be a great two weeks. It just won't involve hotel rooms, a lot of eating out or sightseeing. But we still plan to have fun.
Our destination is Port Saxon. We will be stay-cationing with our son, Benjamin in his parsonage. We still get away from it all, but with very little cost. He has a big screen TV so we are planning to watch a lot of movies and play the Wii. I am hoping to get some reading done, but I'm trying to keep the planning to a minimum and just take each day as it comes.
We still have seriously ill people in the hospital in Yarmouth, so we will be taking many trips there. Since we are on stay-cation we're going to make those trips into something special too. Next week we are going to stop in Pubnico and see the Acadian Village. Alannah and I have already seen it but the boys haven't so we want them to. We're hoping on another day to make it a Frenchy's day.
Today we are going to East Green Harbour to a church rally and then we'll go to Lockeport for supper with Mom and Dad. Tomorrow, we are going to the Whirligig, a great second hand book store in Shelburne.
No, it's not Disney World or Six Flags but we will have lots of time to talk as a family. We'll get lots of time to spend together and enjoy movies and going different places. And just as importantly, we will get away from our everyday duties and life and isn't that what a vacation really is? It really is all in how you look at it. It's like life in general: you can look at the glass as half full or half empty. I have always chosen the half full outlook.
Everyone needs a vacation or a stay-cation. Everyone needs time to step out of their every day life and refuel. David knew this when he penned the 23rd Psalm. Look at the first three verses and see that this man knew he needed down time.
Psa 23:1-3 "A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.    We all need our souls restored from time to time. We all need rest. We all need peace. Take time to be quiet and still before the Lord and allow Him to restore your soul.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.  He restoreth my soul:"
