Clean Up Week

Next week is clean up week around Barrington and Cape Island. It's that time of year when you can put just about anything out to the curb and the garbage men will haul it away. Anything from broken lawn chairs to paint cans and just 'stuff' that tends to accumulate over the year. I look forward to clean up week. It just makes you feel good when you know that you have reduced your amount of junk. You've cleaned out your closets and got rid of clothes you haven't worn in a year or shoes that have seen better days. This year I want to do a complete sweep and really pare down our 'stuff'. Nobody needs half of what we have today, especially me and so with that mind set, I am really going to enjoy purging my things.
This is also a good time of year to examine what 'stuff' you've been holding on to in your heart. Is there a past offense that you just can't let go of? Is there unforgiveness? This is the time to get rid of it once and for all. Do a good fall housecleaning of your heart and mind. Ask the Lord to help you. If you ask Him to reveal to you the things you are holding on to He will. And you will feel so much more freedom after having got rid of the junk that has been held on to.
Whether we are throwing out the trash in our homes or our hearts, we will feel better afterwards. Don't allow possessions or hard feelings to weigh you down. Throw off the weights and step into new life.
Hebrews 12:1 says: Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.
Let's not allow anything or anyone to hold us back from running the race the Lord has set before us. Love of possessions will hold us back and hard feelings will too. Let's be willing to give up everything for Him and He will bless you beyond measure. God bless!
