DRIVE YOUR PEGS DEEP

Isaiah 54:2 Enlarge the site of your tent, and let your tent curtains be stretched out; do not hold back; lengthen your ropes, and drive your pegs deep.

How exciting this verse is for the child of God! Once we belong to the King's family we no longer are ruled by fear of what we can't do; what we can't accomplish. We can boldly go forth into the unknown future knowing that we do so with God on our side. And if God is for us then who can stand against us? (Romans 8:31). Here God is telling us to not be content with our small vision of what is possible and what isn't. Don't allow yourself to be held back by the opinions of others. If God is opening a door for you and asking you to try something new enlarge your territory! Enlarge the site of your tent.

Let your tent curtains be stretched out because you have made your territory so much bigger than what it had been. Lengthen your ropes; stretch to the sky! God is watching over you, He won't allow you to fall (Psalm 91:11).  These are all such beautiful words. Words of promise. They're 'go for it' words from our Father towards us, His children!

But it is the last words that make me the most excited! Drive your pegs deep. God's telling us to batten down the hatches so to speak and hang on. Drive your pegs deep because there might be high winds and storms to battle but if our pegs are driven deep in His safety we'll be fine. We have nothing to fear because He is in control. Drive your pegs deep so that people won't be able to sway you from the path you are on.

So many people are afraid to launch out into the unknown even though they know God is asking them to go there. They're afraid of what people might say. They're afraid of failure. They're afraid of any number of things instead of trusting in God and in His Word. God is telling us clearly in this verse to stop being held back by whatever has been holding us back. There is an old saying 'nothing ventured, nothing gained' and for the child of God this is doubly true. Don't be afraid to go where God is asking you to go or to do what He is asking you to do. Enlarge your territory and drive your pegs deep. Once you have made up your mind to do this, don't be moved. Stand and be firm knowing that you are EXACTLY where God wants you to be!
