Women Who Praise

In just over 24 hours women from all over Shelburne County and other parts of Nova Scotia will be gathered together at our church with one goal in mind: to become women who praise. That is the theme of this year's annual Clam Point women's conference. Way back in January of this year as I was praying for what direction the Lord wanted me to take with the October conference, I felt He was asking for His daughters to become women who praise.
In Scripture we see many examples of women and men, who were so filled with love for their Lord that they broke out into songs of praise. Mary sang a song of praise after the angel gave her his good news. Miriam danced for joy after crossing the Red Sea and praised God. Hannah sang a song of praise after she dedicated Samuel to the Lord's service. David danced before the Lord and sang praises to Him. And we could go on and on. The Lord has given us many examples to pattern our lives after.
So many Christians have wondered what exactly does God want me to do for Him? They have questioned what big 'job' or 'ministry' they are cut out to do. They have searched for direction and some have felt like they are never doing enough. But what does God want all of us to do above all else? Praise Him. No matter what ministry or work we do for the Lord He still wants our praise. He wants to know that His creation loves him. He wants to hear that we do.
Praising God with all our hearts, mind and spirit means taking our eyes off ourselves and focusing only on Him. It means making the song of praise about Him, not just what He has done for us but about how great He is. We need to praise. The Word says "let everything that hath breath praise the Lord" Psalm 150:6. This is one of my favourite Scripture verses. Let EVERYTHING that hath breath, EVERYTHING, EVERYONE, EVERY PERSON, EVERY CREATURE, EVERY THING! praise the Lord!
Let's begin and end each day that the Lord has given to us by praising Him! He is worthy of all praise. He alone is worthy. He deserves our highest praise! Praise the Lord!
